"It gives me great pleasure to be associated with the Fulbright Alumni Association of Malaysia (FAAM).  FAAM was instituted in 1996 to create a permanent opportunity to be a part of the larger community of Fulbrighters especially in the United States of America as well as the rest of the world. There was a noble intent of intercultural education and exchange of valuable knowledge for co-existence and co-operation, and a peaceful world. Over the years, certainly, FAAM has grown sturdily and has turned over a number of events and activities to make the overall purpose of the association to become a reality; it has been gaining in experience and shaping up as an institutional entity. I would say that a great tradition has been commenced and it is best that it continues."

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those past presidents, especially my predecessor, Prof. Dato’ B.S. Gendeh, for infusing a spirit of leadership and goodwill among the various members of the association. It is indeed my humble desire to live up to the standards handed over to me by the previous leaders and elevate the association to another level of standing in its purpose. I would like to acknowledge the great potential the current executive committee constitutes, and I believe our goals would only be the milestones of achievement. At the same time, I wish to highlight that the executive committee is only a steering body and FAAM would require as always every Fulbrighter and friends of Fulbrighters to chip in their share of the Fulbright spirit.

I thought I would include the FAAM vision, mission and objectives herein for easy perusal so that we share a common platform of understanding and commitment.

MISSION

FAAM is the membership organization of Fulbright alumni, donors, and supporters committed to fostering international awareness and understanding through:

PROMOTING increased nationwide support for Fulbright exchanges;
           
            ENRICHING the Fulbright experience;

FACILITATING lifelong interaction among alumni, current Fulbright participants, and friends ofm Fulbrighters.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the Fulbright Alumni Association of Malaysia (FAAM) are:

I. To function as a forum for exchanging opinions and to strengthen social and professional relationships amongst members;

ii. To plan and implement projects, activities or programs for development of the community;

iii.  To build relationships between FAAM and other agencies, institutions and individuals for mutual benefit;

iv. To promote and strengthen relationships between FAAM, agencies of the Fulbright Programme in the United States and other Fulbright Alumni’s worldwide; and

v. To raise funds for FAAM’s activities.
