FULBRIGHT MALAYSIAN PROFESSIONAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM

The Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE) invites applications for grants under the Professional Exchange Program available during the 2009 / 2010 academic year (August to June).

The Purpose of the grant is to enable mid-career Malaysian professionals in the public or private sectors to broaden their experiences through consultation, internship, participation in seminars, workshops and other professional enrichment programs at relevant organizations in the United States for periods of three to six months. These grants are meant for practitioners rather than scholars; administrators, managers of organizations/associations/services, journalist, and lawyers are encouraged to apply for these grants.

 

ELIGIBILITY

 

 

 Applicants must have the following qualifications:
1. A Malaysian citizen;
2. A masters degree or equivalent professional qualification in the field of the proposed program;
3. A minimum of five years working experience in the relevant field;
4. Hold a managerial position in a government organization or the private sector and demonstrate a potential for higher responsibilities;
5. A good command of English;
6. Be willing to share their knowledge of Malaysia with social, civic and other groups while in the United States;

 

PROVISIONS OF THE AWARD

 

 

Successful candidates receive the following:

- per diem
- professional research allowance

Air fare should be paid by the employer/candidate.

Applicants from government agencies are required to submit their completed application forms through their respective Head of Department. Meanwhile applicants from the private sector can submit their applications directly to MACEE.

In connection with your application for the above program, please note the following:

A. Completed application should include the followings :

   i. 6 completed copies of the required application forms;

  ii. 6 recent passport-size photos attached to each of the application forms;

  iii. 3 letters of reference using the required forms; (6 copies each)

  iv. 6 official transcripts from each college/ university/ attended;

  v. 6 certified copies of the degree certificates;

  vi. 6 copies of your resume or curriculum vitae;

  vii. 6 copies of a written statement from your institution stating the length of leave
       entitled;

  viii. 6 copies of a detailed statement of proposed activity.

B. Supplementary documents where applicable:

 i. Letters of invitation or appointment from United States institutions. (6 copies)

 ii. Source of support for accompanying dependents. (6 copies)

C. Short listed candidates will be called for interview in August/September 2008.
